The night was bitterly cold, and you did everything in your power to stay warm. You remembered your mother saying that even a single cotton sheet could make the difference between freezing in your sleep and feeling cozy beneath the covers. Your mother was right in most cases about most things; after all, her years of taking care of you and your father had forced her to learn all about life's little cheats. However, it was difficult for you to admit that the saying "mother knows best" wasn't entirely true, as you had now stacked three sheets under your woolen blanket and you could not feel a deviation in temperature.
"Curfew be damned…" You whispered harshly as you threw your legs over the side of the bed. You had no patience for rules or any disciplinary garbage. Goose bumps appeared and ran the length of your arms as your skin became exposed to the air. You lifted your arm up to eye-level and examined the hairs that stood promptly on end.
